Police say the man wanted for murdering his ex-wife has been arrested in Union City. John Kristofak, 58, was wanted for the stabbing death of 48-year-old Donna Nations Kristofak.

According to authorities, Cobb County sheriffs, Union City police, and U.S. Marshals arrested Kristofak early Thursday moing at a Motel 6 in Union City after an extensive manhunt that started on December 23.

They say Kristofak struggled briefly with police before being taken into custody, and that a firearm was found during a search of his room.

Cobb County police believe Donna Kristofak was killed in the garage of their home on Saturday by her ex-husband. Kristofak had emailed a Marietta Daily Joual reporter on Christmas Eve implying that he might kill himself.

Kristofak is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond. He is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault.
