Jameis Winston is taking his accuser to court.
The former Florida State quarterback, who was taken first overall in last week's NFL draft, has filed a counterclaim against a woman who claimed he raped her in December 2012, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The victim's lawsuit was filed two weeks before the draft, according to The Associated Press.
Winston's counterclaim says the victim's accusations are "false, defamatory" and have affected his life personally and professionally, according to the court filings cited by the newspaper. The counterclaim also alleges the victim was motivated by greed and that her recall of the incident is inconsistent.
In April, Miss Kinsman filed her own suit against Winston, claiming he assaulted and raped her at an off-campus apartment in 2012
Winston was never charged with a crime. Medical evidence and witness testimonies support his claim that the sexual encounter between the two was consensual.
Winston's defense seeks $75,000 for damages.
Neither party's lawyers responded to calls by The Associated Press or the Times as of Saturday moing.
