The Indian Air Force has said that its fighter jets have shot down a UFO.

A Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet was dispatched to deal with a ‘balloon-shaped" object seen over the northe state of Rajasthan on Tuesday.

A statement from the IAF said the ‘unidentified object" was ‘intecepted and brought down".

‘Between 10.30 and 11 am today an unidentified balloon-shaped object was picked up by the Indian Air Force (IAF) radar," it said in an official statement.

‘An IAF fighter was launched, which intercepted the object and brought it down. Materials have been retrieved and further investigation is ongoing."

Scott C Waring of UFO Sightings Daily told Yahoo it ‘looked like a giant cloud orb"

‘Sometimes if they are struck by lightning, they can malfunction and fall to the earth," he added.
