Housing Authority Accepts Section 8 Applications

Thursday moing, the housing authority began accepting applications from thousands of people seeking Section 8 housing.

Wednesday, chaos ensued when 30,000 people showed up in East Point to apply for Section 8.

Hundreds rushed the doors and police had to be called in to control the crowd. 

 

City Manager Crandal Jones said they are planning for the applications to be retued at 3056 Norman Berry Drive in East Point, and they would like to have people drive up and drop off their applications starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

 

It's also encouraging people to mail them in.

The housing authority says it will process the applications in the order they are received.
