Hardcore kitesurfer survives fight with Red Sea sharks

Jan Lisewski had done this kind of thing before. He'd already kitesurfed across the Baltic Sea and hoped to add to his record-setting resume by kitesurfing across the Red Sea, from Egypt to Saudi Arabia.

Instead, he endured a terrifying ordeal that NBC Miami described as \"'Jaws' meets 'Cast Away.'\" Several hours in, the wind disappeared, leaving Lisewski unable to launch the kite, and his floating gear started to attract sharks.

Lots and lots of sharks. Lisewski spent that night fighting them off with his knife. The next day he was rescued, telling the Polish media that he never doubted that he'd be found. \"Hope,\" he said, \"dies last.\"
