Gwinnett man Davon Jones accused of killing friends captured

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA - Gwinnett County Police say the suspect who shot and killed two friends who were visiting his home Sunday evening has been arrested.

Davon Dayron Jones, 24, of Duluth has been charged with two counts of felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault after his arrest Monday moing.

According to Detective David Smith of the Gwinnett County Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call at a home on the 2100 block of Hopkins Mill Lane in Duluth around 9 p.m. and found one man dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. They rushed a second man to a hospital, where he died.

Jones had fled the scene, police said.

Smith said it appears Jones lived at the home with his other family members. The victims were family friends of Jones who had been invited to the home earlier in the day, according to Smith.

Detectives continue to investigate what prompted the shooting. The victims have not been identified pending notification of their families
 
The circumstances leading to the murders are still being investigated, according to Gwinnett County police.
