A PARTY was dramatically cut short after a decomposing body was found in the garden of an Airbnb home a group of friends had rented for the weekend.

The woman's body was found on Saturday afteoon at the bottom of a steep bank at the end of the garden of a three-storey premises in Palaiseau, 10 miles south of Paris.

Police said the body was covered with branches and logs in a shallow grave, curled up with clothes on, a ring with a large stone on her finger but no shoes.

They are treating the woman's death as murder and officers are still attempting to find out who she was as she had nothing on her.

A judicial source said: \"The state of the body, which was in an advanced stage of decomposition, did not enable investigators to determine the cause of death.\"

Authorities from the prosecutor's office said \"all the signs suggest that this was a criminal act.\"

The group was due to host a 25th birthday party on Saturday night after renting it from online home rental website, Airbnb, but cancelled it after finding the body and were questioned by police on Sunday.
