It was no holiday for Georgia's gubeatorial candidates. Nathan Deal and Roy Baes spent the day reaching out to voters and talking about the key issues affecting Georgians this election year.

With thousands of Georgians out of work it was no surprise both candidates spoke of jobs and the economy this Labor Day.

Georgia gubeatorial candidates Nathan Deal and Roy Baes didn't take a break from the campaign this Labor Day with the election less than two months away.

"We believe everything is headed in the right direction for our campaign we are trying to meet as many people as we can before Election Day November 2nd," said GOP candidate Nathan Deal.

"I think all of the races in Georgia are going to be close I think just to look at the primary races you see that," said Democratic candidate Roy Baes.

With Georgia's unemployment rate slightly higher than the national average jobs and the economy are key issues this election year.

"The goveor has to be an Ambassador for new jobs," said Baes.

Baes says he thinks Georgians should be given preference for state and local contracts, that preference should be given to Georgia companies and Georgia workers, as part of the ongoing effort to get thousands of unemployed residents back to work.

"I think education is always key to that. Skill levels are what jobs look for, and if we don't show a dedication to education by furloughing teachers or shortening the school year we are telling businesses we don't care about your workers," said Baes.

Deal stressed jobs, transportation, education -- all part of the framework necessary to build a solid foundation for Georgia's job recovery.

"These are people what make Georgia great. They are the kind of folks who work hard everyday they are interested in their children's education. They represent all the issues that a Goveor's campaign ought to be about," said Deal.

Baes also stated Monday that transportation and education must be a key component of any job creation plan, if it is to be successful.
