'Good Samaritan' robs woman after rollover crash
A woman says a man posing as a good Samaritan pretended to help her after a horrific rollover crash, but actually robbed her instead.
Kimberly Smith survived a roller crash in Irving, Texas, early Sunday moing after she says a car cut her off. She flipped three times before her car landed on its roof, WFAA reports.
"It's really a miracle that I'm alive and that I was able to walk away from it," said Kimberly.
Her brother, Joshua Smith, posted photos of the crash to Facebook, along with a story about the man who allegedly robbed her.
Joshua wrote that the man pulled over and appeared to be there to help her.
"He even found her purse and brought it over to her. She was still dazed and confused from the accident and he said he was gonna go get his cell to call 911," wrote Joshua.
She asked the man to stay with her until help arrived.
"He said don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. He gets in his truck and takes off. With her wallet. All her credit cards. ID's. Everything," wrote Joshua.
WFAA reports that another stranger stopped and called 911. It wasn't until police officers arrived that she realized she had just been robbed.
"The police officer asked for my driver's license and insurance and that's when I realized my wallet was not in my purse," Kimberly told WFAA.
Irving police say the faux-good Samaritan stole her license, Social Security card and $80.
Kimberly says she feels sorry for the thief, saying he must have been desperate if he was willing to steal from someone at their most vulnerable point.
