But weather experts said what happened can be explained by an optical illusion called Fata Morgana.

It can be seen on land or sea and involves the distortion and inversion of distant objects, such as boats.

Conspiracy theorists suggested that otherworldly happening in Foshan, south China, might have been part of the Blue Beam Project by NASA to dupe the world into following a new religion.
