Luckily to be alive: Orentheal Childs, left, was shot 15 times by fellow gang members after he told them he wanted to leave the gang. Farrakmad Muhammad Price, right, has been arrested for the shooting

A teen survived being shot 15 times after he tried to leave a gang, according to police.

U.S. Marshal Eric Heinz said that the 19-year-old was left for dead after being shot on Stephens Street on Feb. 15.

"Never since I've been in law enforcement have I seen someone shot 15 times and live," Heinz said.

The teen was shot because he was member of a street gang and wanted out, Heinz said.

"Told the other members of the gang, ‘Hey, look I want to go straight, be law-abiding,' and they weren't happy with it," Heinz said.

After the victim was shot and left for dead, he started crawling and moaning. The people that aided him are now in protective custody.

A relative of the victim said that he underwent surgery and is recovering.

"I think he's strong and he's a survivor," said the relative, who asked not to be identified.

Agents with the U.S. Marshals Counter Gang Unit and Atlanta Police arrested two people in the shooting, including a 16-year-old and 19-year-old Farrakmad Muhammad Price, who they say was found Tuesday hiding in Tennessee.

"Both suspects are confirmed members of the Young Mob, which is a subset or affiliate of the Goodfellas street gang," Heinz said.

Investigators say the Young Mob is a new gang with a motto that you stay in until you die.

The victim's family waed other teens against joining gangs.

"My message is change before it's too late. Because the same way they did him, somebody could do them," the relative said.

Authorities are still investigating and are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call them or CrimeStoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
