Two child protection workers in Georgia have been placed on paid leave following accusations that they falsified documents to keep millions of dollars in federal grants.

State records show Phyllis Mitchell and Deborah Cobb were placed on paid administrative leave Wednesday, the same day they were arrested.

They both worked at the Muscogee County branch of the Division of Family and Children Services. They are charged with falsifying official documents and encouraging others to lie. Both women were released this week after they each posted almost $1,400 in bond. It was not immediately clear whether they had attoeys.

State officials told Mitchell and Cobb in a letter that they will be on leave for up to 45 days. They have been banned from the workplace until further notice.
