Ga. Tech football recruit Jordan Johnson de-commits after ‘bad experience’ at game

A Georgia Tech football recruit is considering a different school after he claims campus police harassed his family.

Jordan Johnson told Channel 2 Action News he's withdrawing his commitment to play for the Yellow Jackets next year after a bad experience at last Saturday's Georgia Tech-UGA game.

Johnson says two police officers claimed his family members didn't have tickets to the game. He explained to them he was a recruit attending the game as a guest.

"They were like, ‘I don't care who you are. Where are your tickets?’ And I was like, ‘Tickets? I don't have a ticket, I have this little badge that they gave us to serve as our ticket,’ Johnson said.

Johnson says Georgia Tech coaches apologized.

Georgia Tech released a statement saying: "At this time, the situation appears to involve a miscommunication regarding credentials and seating."

Georgia Tech campus police have launched an investigation.

Georgia Tech has dropped from 10 to eight commitments for this year’s class. The Yellow Jackets have one remaining lineman recruit – Parker Braun of Hallsville, Texas.
