Former teacher Erin Agren ‘killed husband, toddler, then shot self’

A WOMAN has allegedly killed her husband and toddler son before shooting herself, according to investigators.

Erin Agren, 43, of Whatcomb County in the US state of Washington, was found wounded in her home on Sunday afteoon, along with her deceased husband — 59-year-old Michael Jordan — and 17-month-old son Miles.

“They were in the bed,” Whatcom County Undersheriff Jeff Parks told KIRO. “She shot both of them. Sometime later, we’re not really clear on the time frame, right after that or if there was an extended period. But after that at some point, she shot herself.”

She lay injured next to the bodies for at least two days, according to police. A real estate agent made the grim discovery after arriving at the home for an open house. “When he went there to initiate the open house, he entered the residence and he heard a woman on the second floor calling for help,” Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo told CBS. “It’s surprising to find a 17-month-old that’s been murdered. It’s certainly shocking and certainly very difficult.”

Jordan and his wife were teachers at the Lummi Nation School on a tribal reservation in Bellingham, although neither was a member of the tribe. Jordan had been a special-education teacher there since 2007 and Ms Agren had been an intervention specialist at the school until two years ago when she left during her pregnancy to be a full-time mother. “Lummi Nation School is deeply sadden by the loss of an incredibly dedicated and beloved teacher,” the School said of Jordan in a Facebook post.

Whatcom County Sheriff’s office was called to the home last spring, a source told KIRO, because Ms Agren was suffering from paranoid delusions; a potential symptom of serious post-partum depression.

Ms Agren remains in hospital in Bellingham, facing two counts of murder.

Ms Agren’s friend, Anne Grant, wrote on Facebook: “This is awful. One of my very good friends, Erin Agren, had been suffering from psychosis. A few days ago she shot and killed her sweet 17 month old baby Miles and wonderful husband. My heart aches for them and for her.”
