Former Atlanta Hawks basketball star Daron "Mookie" Blaylock has been sentenced as part of a plea deal in a 2013 deadly crash.

Blaylock was sentenced to 15 years -- the first seven in confinement and the other eight on probation. He will receive credit for time served.

Blaylock was involved in a wreck on May 31, 2013, on Tara Boulevard just south of North Avenue in Jonesboro. It was at about 1:15 p.m. when police said Blaylock crossed the median into oncoming traffic and hit a van head-on.

Monica Murphy, 41, was a passenger in a van being driven by Frankie Murphy. Monica Murphy was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center and underwent surgery but died.

Frankie Murphy was treated for a broken ankle.

Blaylock was driving a Cadillac Escalade. A viewer video showed the Escalade nearly crushed from the impact.

Blaylock, 46, was hospitalized following the traffic accident and tued himself in on June 3, 2013, after he was discharged.

Blaylock played 13 years in the NBA and seven years for the Atlanta Hawks
