A Florida mother is facing serious charges after doctors allegedly caught her injecting feces into her young daughter’s IV line while the child was hospitalized, authorities said.

According to court records, 31-year-old Shadai Hill was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse after medical staff at a hospital in Jacksonville reported suspicious behavior involving her daughter’s treatment.

Doctors became concerned when the child developed unexplained infections while receiving care through an intravenous line. Hospital staff later reviewed surveillance footage, which investigators said showed Hill injecting a brown substance into the IV port. Medical testing later confirmed the substance was fecal matter, according to arrest reports.

Authorities said the alleged actions caused the child to suffer severe infections, requiring additional medical treatment. The child is now in stable condition and has been placed in protective custody.

Police said the investigation began after hospital staff alerted the Florida Department of Children and Families. Detectives with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office obtained video evidence and conducted interviews before making the arrest.

Hill was taken into custody and remains jailed pending further court proceedings. It was not immediately clear whether she has retained an attorney.

Investigators have not released a possible motive. The case remains under investigation.
