Florida man William Kane III robs two banks but gets stressed out at third target and calls police on himself
Stressed: William Richard Kane III, 51, said he became overwhelmed when he prepared to rob his third bank

A Florida man who robbed banks on Wednesday and Thursday showed up to repeat the crime on Friday, but thought better of it.

William Richard Kane III, 51, 'got stressed out' and called police on himself to report that he needed to go back to rehab.

He is a crack cocaine addict and had 'fallen off the wagon,' Kane explained to officers.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Kane has been in prison twice in the last 20 years.

Most of the charges for which he was convicted were for robberies in St Petersburg.

He was released most recently in 2008.

Kane said he was stressed out and tired, when officers arrived. He also said he was depressed and suicidal.

He then admitted to robbing a St. Petersburg's First Bank brand on Wednesday.

He also knocked over a Chase Bank on Thursday.

He was at a Wells Fargo branch when he called police.

'He told dispatchers he wanted to go back to rehab,' St Petersburg police spokesman Mike Puetz told the Times. 'He'd fallen off the wagon.'

Kane was arrested on two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon.

His bail was set at $100,000.
