Florida man's smartphone takes a bullet for him

Yes. That's a bullet hole.

A Florida man was shot at lived to tell the tale, all because his smartphone leapt to the rescue, Bay News 9 reports.

The man survived a gas station robbery in Winter Garden after the would-be thief attempted to raid the contents of the safe.

The frustrated thief then fired a shot to the stomach of the attendant, who may have died had the bullet not struck his smartphone.

"It's a miracle he's able to be with us today because technically that round could have been life threatening," said Lt. Scott Allen.

In fact the phone did such a good job, it took a while for the victim to even realise he'd been shot.

"He had complained about having some chest pains and when they started looking in deeper, they realised his phone had a bullet lodged in it and it was damaged from it," Lt. Allen added.
