Five skiers have died following an avalanche at a resort in the Austrian Alps.

More than a dozen people are still believed to be buried under the snow and emergency services are on the scene.

The avalanche occurred in the Wattental valley, around 25 miles (40km) southeast of Innsbruck in weste Austria.

A police spokesman said it was not yet known how many people are injured.
