Facebook's testing customers with new font tests

Helvetica has been the default font on Facebook for as long as we care to remember, but that could be changing soon.

According to reports and complaints from users, Facebook has switched the default Helvetica with a font called Geneva in status posts by users, prompting some harsh reactions with users who were not pleased with change.

One user posted 'It seems like @facebook just did something to the font on desktop, and it's super ugly at my end. Do not want.”

The change in font on Facebook only appears to be visible in the desktop version for now, and whether Geneva is going to become a new default across Facebook's services remains to be seen.

It seems to be common practice for companies to test drive new features and changes by making them available to only a small set of users. Even Google recently changed the color of its hyperlinks in a test that lasted less than a day.

'You might have seen some of the stuff in there that we're just playing around with and testing,” said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg during a live broadcast. 'Not everything there's gonna launch,” he added 'Some of it will be over time”
