Ex-Georgia Tech Professors Charged With Fraud

ATLANTA -- Two Georgia Tech professors face fraud charges after prosecutors accused them of being on the payrolls of two universities at the same time.

The Georgia Attoey General's Office said the husband-and-wife duo of Francois Sainfort and Julie Jacko have been charged with conspiracy to defraud, theft by taking and making false statements.

The two are charged in a plot to draw paychecks from both Georgia Tech and the University of Minnesota.

Attoey Martin Goldberg, who has represented the professors, said in a statement that they worked tirelessly for Georgia Tech, eaed their pay and were upfront about their plans to leave the school.

State prosecutors said the two fraudulently billed Georgia Tech for travel expenses. Lawyers for the professors said the school's process for reimbursing travel expenses was flawed and was revised after the case arose.
