Esquire tweets link to oral sex piece with Dominique Strauss-Kahn joke
Esquire.com linked an oral-sex advice piece with the case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn.

Esquire magazine grossly miscalculated when it decided to link an oral-sex advice piece with the alleged sexual assault case against Dominique-Strauss Kahn and then tweet about it.

Esquire.com editors chose to weave in references to the Newsweek interview with Nafissatou Diallo, the maid who has accused the French politico of assaulting her in a New York City hotel room back in May, into a piece about fellatio tips.

\"In the latest Newsweek, the maid who was allegedly raped by former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn gives a very graphic account of their time together, including some very indecent oral sex,\" the piece originally read.  \"And whomever you believe, that's a tragedy. Because as we've leaed over the years from our sex expert, (the sex act) need not be degrading or hurtful, for either party.\"

A member of the Esquire.com staff then tweeted out  a link to their article with this blasé language: \"How to get a better (oral sex) than #DSK – we think.\"

The bulk of the sex piece, written by columnist Stacey Grenrock Woods, was unrelated to the Strauss-Kahn case.

Esquire.com has since deleted the offensive text from the piece as well as the offensive tweet.

The site soon tweeted out an apology – its version of one, anyway.

\"Sometimes our sense of humor doesn't come out the way we intend,\" the mag tweeted. \"Sorry if an earlier tweet offended anyone.\"

Calls to David Granger, the editor in chief of Esquire magazine, have not yet been retued.

Not everyone is accepting Esquire.com's apology.

Katha Pollit, essayist for \"The Nation\" took to her own Twitter account to lash out at the magazine.

\"You guys were jerks when I worked there in l973, and you are STILL jerks, although different people,\" she wrote. \"What is the matter with you?\"

Readers, both male and female have used the words \"despicable,\" \"horrible\" and \"not funny\" to describe the attempt to cash in on the rape case in order to gaer online favor.

It was the second time in one day that the online version of the men's magazine has exercised bad taste while attempting to keep up with breaking news.

Fans of the late singer Amy Winehouse are crying foul at Esquire.com's praise of Blake Fielder-Civil. Their style blog lauds his fashion sense and declares him \"the sort of stylish man that inspires gorgeous music.\"

Fielder-Civil, who is serving time in prison for various crimes in the UK, has been blamed for accompanying Winehouse on her spiral into drug abuse and legal problems.
