Driver Jonathan Lacier Davis Charged in Fiery Fatal Car Crash
HOUSTON - A driver was arrested and has been charged in the death of another driver as the result of a two-car crash.
The accident took place after 3 a.m. Thursday on the West Sam Houston Parkway South frontage road near Harwin Drive in southwest Houston.
Police say the driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling erratically and at a high rate of speed on the West Sam Houston Parkway South before passing a red light on Harwin Drive. The PT Cruiser crashed into a Honda Civic that was traveling westbound on Harwin Drive.
The impact of the crash caused the Civic to break apart and explode. The body of the driver in the Civic bued in the explosion.
The female passenger in the PT Cruiser was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the PT Cruiser, later identified as Jonathan Lacier Davis, 22, was charged with intoxication manslaughter following the death of the female who drove the Civic. Her identity is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
