Douglasville Teen Dominique Javonte Stuckey, Found Guilty of Murdering Grandmother

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. - A 17-year-old boy has been found guilty of killing his grandmother and setting her body on fire last year.

A Douglas County jury took less than an hour to convict Dominique Javonte Stuckey of murder and first-degree arson in the March 2009 death of 67-year-old Velma Stuckey. Authorities say the teen, who was 15 at the time of the incident and living with his grandmother, beat and stabbed the elderly woman with a hoe before setting her on fire.

Authorities say the teen then called 911 to report the fire. He later confessed he set the blaze to cover up his crime.

Dominique Stuckey, who was convicted Friday, will be sentenced Jan. 12.
