Disgraced teacher Mary Faith McCormick, 32, pleads guilty to sexual relationship with boy, 13

A former middle school teacher from Arkansas has pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault after being accused of raping a 13-year-old boy and exchanging sexually explicit photos and messages for three months.

Mary Faith McCormick, 32, a married mother of one from Siloam Springs, was arrested last August when a friend of the victim’s found semi-nude photos of the teacher on the child's cellphone.

A police investigation subsequently uncovered a three-month affair between the sixth-grade teacher at Siloam Springs Intermediate School and the 13-year-old boy, who told police it all started when he accepted a 'dare' to contact McCormick and visit her home.

McCormick stepped down from her post at the school in September 2014 after being released on $50,000 bond.

She is scheduled to be sentenced July 30. A charge of first-degree sexual assault carries a sentence of six to 30 years in prison, reported the station KFSM.

According to a probable cause affidavit, the middle school educator and the youngster had consensual sex at least twice.

The sexual encounters began after a friend challenged the 13-year-old to reach out to McCormick.

The report said one night, the teen and a friend went over to the teacher's apartment to watch a movie.

When the friend left, the boy remained behind and later had sex with the teacher in her bedroom, the affidavit stated.

Police said the teacher and the teen sent each other SnapChat messages depicting their genitalia. They also exchanged explicit text messages.

Investigators said they had collected electronic messages between the pair. Two USB thumb drives, an iPad and two Apple iPhones and desktop computer were seized from McCormick's home.

Police launched their investigation after a 12-year-old girl friend of the boy borrowed his cell phone and discovered one of the messages which showed the teacher in nothing but a towel, according to KFSM 5 News.

Further examination of the iPhone revealed a photo of McCormick topless.

The affidavit says an eye witness saw several inappropriate messages and images, including one of McCormick with wet hair and showing off her naked breasts.

The text with the risque photo read: 'I'm not dirty anymore.'

McCormick's Facebook page, which has since been deleted, showed that she has a husband and a young daughter.
