JEFFERSON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say they've ruled the death of a 16-year-old girl in Jefferson a homicide.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Friday Cheyanne Hair died Wednesday at Athens Regional Medical Center. She was taken to the hospital after authorities responded to a residence following a 911 call requesting medical services.

Citing the active investigation, the GBI declined to release the cause of death Friday.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the GBI ask that anyone with information related to Hair's death call the Jackson County Sheriff's Office tip line (706) 367-3784.
