Deadly Hellfire warheads found on passenger plane heading for America
BOMB sniffer dogs discovered missiles with explosive warheads on a passenger plane heading for America – prompting a major investigation.

The Air Serbia flight from Beirut, Lebanon, unloaded the deadly Hellfire missiles packed away in wooden coffins at Belgrade airport.

The final destination for the missiles was Portland, Oregon, according to reports.

Serbian broadcaster N1 television said the armour-piercing AGM-114 missiles were unloaded at the Nikola Tesla Airport, where bomb-sniffing dogs made the worrying find.

The FBI is now investigating the incident.

The Hellfire missiles were designed to be launched from helicopters and can home in on targets.

The rockets can destroy cars and tanks with ease and have been used in warfare in Iraq.

Sgt Pete Simpson, Portland police spokesman, said: "We have been made aware of the report and the chief has been in contact with the FBI.”

Beth Anne Steel, FBI spokesman, said: "The FBI is aware of the report but we have no information to release at this time.”

There has been no suggestion that the finds were related to terrorism.
