A Chicago-area man’s flighty obsession came to an end Friday: David Skeberdis had been hoarding birds. Many, many birds. About 325, according to officials in the Chicago suburb of Aurora, who deemed his home unfit to inhabit and demanded they be allowed to enter and remove Skeberdis’ flock, which in addition to the live creatures included another 120 dead ones. Skeberdis, a self-described bird hoarder, had objected to the city’s $13,478 bill to have the birds removed, but a court order allowed a cleanup crew to enter the home. The live birds were tued over to the Greater Chicago Cage Bird Club, who said they would find noncrazy permanent homes for the animals. [Source]
