D'souza family accused of embezzling $2 million from dental practice
Rosemary D'souza (left), her husband Joseph (center) and their daughter Karen (right) are accused of embezzling more than $2 million from the dental business she worked for.

A Lawrenceville family is charged with stealing more than $2 million from one of their employers, a dental company in Sandy Springs.

Investigators say while Rosemary D'souza worked at TLC Dental, she secretly boosted her salary to more than $800,000. She also paid out more than $600,000 to her husband, Joseph, and more than $83,000 to her daughter, Karen. Only Mrs. D'Souza had a connection to the dental practice at the time.

The alleged thefts took place between early 2009 and 2013, while D'Souza worked as an office manager at TLC.

Authorities say word of Mrs. D'souza owning two homes in Florida triggered suspicions at the Sandy Springs dental office. TLC's employer eventually leaed of the properties in D'souza's name and decided to check the company's books. This soon revealed evidence of embezzlement.

Mrs. D'souza is charged with theft by taking, felony breach of the fiduciary obligation and financial transaction card fraud. Her husband and daughter face charges of theft by taking.

As of Wednesday, the D'souzas remained on bond in Fulton County.

A hearing date has not been set.
