A New Orleans restaurant was forced to apologize after an employee gave a customer a receipt that included a racial slur.

Liryca Neville Branch was out to lunch on Thursday at Huck Finn's Restaurant and Sports Bar when she received the receipt, which had an extra message under the thin catfish platter that was ordered.

Below the order, the it read, 'N***** 100% dislike', along with noting a $16 refund.

Branch, 33, who received the receipt when she was with three coworkers, said that the message 'shows that racism is alive and well', according to the New York Daily News.

'This is unacceptable. I couldn't sleep last night,' she said. 'It's 2015. You would think that we wouldn't have to deal with this stuff right now.'

The receipt was later posted to Facebook by Branch's mother, Gaynielle Neville.  Mrs Neville is the wife of soul singer Cyril Neville, the youngest member of 70s R&B group the Neville Brothers.

Branch reportedly asked to speak to a manager, but was told that the message was part of a joke that employees play on black employees 'in the back' of the restaurant, according to the Daily News.

Huck Finn's released a statement regarding the incident, claiming it was 'shocked and appalled at the actions of one of its employees', and added that the employee had been terminated
