Cory Monteith died from lethal mix of heroin and alcohol
GLEE star Cory Monteith died from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol, say Canadian authorities.
The British Columbia Coroners Service says an autopsy and toxicological analysis show that the 31-year-old Glee star died on from a "mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol."
"There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most tragic accident.''
Monteith's body was discovered by staffers at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, Canada on July 13.
He was believed to be alone when he died, but was seen spending his last night at the Portside bar with friends, before retuing to the hotel.
Some reports suggested Monteith was drinking throughout the night while a source who was there insisted the claims were untrue.
The star, who played Finn in the popular TV series, had struggled with addiction for years and had entered rehab in April this year after relapsing.
Monteith had talked openly about struggling with addiction since he was a teenager, calling it a serious problem and telling Parade magazine in 2011 he was "lucky to be alive."
The actor reportedly attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings in the days before his death.
TMZ reports Monteith was "leading a double life", a hard-working Glee star in LA and a hard-partying substance abuser in Vancouver.
The Canadian native reportedly retued to his home country many times and hung out with friends who helped fuel his addiction.
Monteith's family was allegedly aware he reverted back to his hard-partying ways when he retued home and tried in vain to help, TMZ reports.
His Glee co-star and girlfriend, Lea Michele, supported his struggles and spent a lot of time keeping him clean and sober.
Michele, 26, put out a statement asking for privacy to grieve shortly after his passing was announced. The pair was reportedly planning to move in together.
