North Carolina authorities said a cobb County father and his son were killed in a jet ski accident Friday at Sunset Beach around 2:15 p.m.

According to officials, John Weowsky, 51, of Acworth, Ga., was driving the jet ski and accidentally hit the accelerator causing the jet ski to hit the pier at the Sunset Beach Wildlife Resource Commission boat ramp. His son Jake, 10, also passed away from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash.

The man's wife and teenage daughter, who were on another jet ski, suffered only minor injuries, according to local authorities.

The incident is part of a multi-agency investigation.
