Chris Brown has riled some of his fans after he called on-off girlfriend Karrueche Tran "a fat a** n***a" in an Instagram post.
The R'n'B singer, who regularly uploads pictures of his model other half onto his social photo sharing account, posted a shot of her reaching for something out of his fridge.
Next to the image he wrote: "Caught this fat a** n***a in my fridge. Always eating."
While some of his followers said he was clearly joking with the caption, plenty of others failed to see the funny side.
Referencing the time Chris was forced to delete a racy shot of Karrueche lying on a bed in just her underwear (which some say contributed to last month's break up), one fan wrote: "I hope y'all don't break up over this pic and your rude a** caption again."
Another said: "Fast a**????? Hope it's a joke."
"Where is this fat a**?"
And: "Fast a**?! You must be kidding me Chris."
While others came to his defence, writing: "Omg, y'all are over reacting. He was joking and they have a very playful relationship.
"They're like best friends. She is beautiful and he knows it."
Speaking on Twitter about the shocking incident, the singer said: "It is disappointing that we as a society cannot have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the b******t."
Revellers were told to "get down" after the singer was reportedly targeted in the shooting and three people were injured and taken to the city's Cedars Sinai hospital.
Can Chris ever be anything less than controversial?
