Chivalry ends badly for Mexican couple in Los Reyes

THE good news is that chivalry isn't dead, the bad news is that sometimes it doesn't work out as planned. Just ask this couple dubbed Mexico's Romeo and Juliet.

This video shows a young man gallantly carrying his girlfriend above the flood waters caused by continual days of heavy rain across Mexico.

What he couldn't see was the uncovered manhole that the pair fell into.

Both escape easily enough but the man appears frustrated that all his efforts to keep his loved one dry came unstuck.

The couple in the video have not yet been identified but the footage has travelled from the Mexican city of Los Reyes, where this was captured, around the world courtesy of the inteet.
