Chilling video shows girl, 8 'lured away from mom' before being raped and murdered

Video shows little Cherish Perrywinkle shopping with her mom and younger sister before the man strikes up a conversation.

Her mom later said he had been joking about whether he could buy her daughter some high-heeled shoes — which she refused.

After talking for a while the family leave the shop with a man named as Donald Smith to walk to a nearby clothes shop.

It is there that Smith promised the eight-year-old a burger from a McDonald's restaurant just by the exit — but instead walked her out to the carpark and into his white van.

The footage shows the pair strolling through the doors into the dark evening of June 21, 2013.

And just hours later Cherish's body was discovered in a marsh in Jacksonville, Florida.

Rayne Perrywinkle raised the alarm after the pair failed to retu with their fast food.

She explained to emergency services that Smith said he would buy some clothes for the family and that he wanted to meet his wife at Walmart.

She said: "We've been here probably two hours, and she didn't show up. I have this cart full of clothes that he said he was going to pay for.

"I had a bad feeling. I feel like pinching myself because this is too good to be true. I got to the checkout, and he's not here."

Donald Smith is currently on trial for kidnap, rape and murder of Cherish but denies the allegations.

He went on the run after police found Cherish's body the moing after she was abducted but he was caught a day later after his friend shopped him in.

His roommate told police "I helped him take a couple seats out of his van yesterday."

Smith was later snared after a cop recognised his van on a motorway a day later after tending to a crash.
