Charlize Theron, Sean Penn ‘engaged’

SEAN Penn has popped the question to actor girlfriend Charlize Theron in Paris, US media reports.

Us Weekly quotes sources close to the couple as saying that the Dead Man Walking star “decided to take their relationship to the next level” upon a trip to Paris in November.

Penn, 54, and Theron, 39, first stepped out together in December 2013.

He has been married twice before. Once to Madonna, from 1985 to 1989 and then to Robin Wright from 1996 to 2010.

Theron has previously said she is not a fan of marriage but did used to wear a “commitment ring” during her nine-year relationship to Irish actor Stuart Townsend.

“Let’s put it this way: I never had the dream of the white dress. And watching other people getting married? I think it’s beautiful for them, but to be quite honest, usually I’m sitting there just devastated,” she said. “It’s supposed to be this night of celebrating love, and all you see is a couple separated all night making sure everybody else is okay. It just looks like a lot of work. And as you get older, you start sifting through the stuff that really matters.”

However in June is told Vogue that she is not afraid to make a long-lasting commitment.

“I want the long-term relationship,” she said.

Penn’s former wife Robin Wright, 48, announced last month that she had split from her fiance, Ben Foster, 34, after a 10-month engagement.
