School officials say a 30-year-old teacher died from a heart attack at a metro Atlanta high school.

Officials say Ryan Daniel collapsed early Thursday moing during a pick-up basketball game before students arrived at Buford High School. Daniel could not be revived and was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Daniel was a special education teacher and assistant coach who graduated from Buford and retued five years ago to teach after finishing college. Officials said he helped coach multiple sports at the high school, including the four-time state championship football team.

Buford football coach Jess Simpson, who coached Daniel when he was in high school and worked with him at the school, said Daniel was a "favorite son of Buford" who "always made your day better."
