British woman, 22, receives 25,000-volt shock after climbing on to freight train
A young woman is in hospital with bu injuries after she climbed on top of a stationary freight train and suffered an electric shock from overhead cables carrying 25,000 volts.
The force of the electrical volt was said by witnesses to have caused an explosion before she went stiff and tumbled to the ground.
The 22-year-old had hiked to the top of the rail carriages at Hackney Wick station in east London around 11pm on Wednesday night when she came into contact with the live lines.
Witnesses told the Evening Standard that she had climbed up a side ladder and appeared to be clambering around before staggering into a cable.
A huge spark then sent her 20ft backwards on to the platform where her clothes were said to be but and in tatters.
A witness, who did not want to be named, told the newspaper: ‘We just thought "this girl is an idiot”. We all thought it was stupid, madness, and that she was going to get arrested.
