A British teenager left fighting for his life after a knife attack in Turkey may have been stabbed for kissing a local girl.

Dwayne Ward, 17, told police he was ambushed after kissing a Turkish girl in a bar.

He was knifed 17 times – including in the throat, chest, groin, legs and back – and was later found naked in a garden in Marmaris.

Dwayne, from Britain, had been on holiday with his 32-year-old brother Darren and their mother.

A police report revealed he told officers: ‘I was having fun while I was out and I kissed a Turkish girl at the bar I was in.

‘I went to another bar and that was when they hit me in the head with a hard object.

‘I don"t remember the rest."

Two men – a 24-year-old identified as Ismail A and car cleaner Attila Dincer – have been arrested over the attack on Monday.

Meanwhile, staff and students at Dwayne"s former school said they were shocked by the stabbing.

A spokesman for Macmillan Academy, in Middlesbrough, said: ‘Staff and students at the academy were deeply saddened by the news that a former student was left fighting for his life after a knife attack while on a family holiday in Turkey.

‘The thoughts and prayers of staff and students go out to Dwayne in the express hope that he can make a complete recovery.

‘There is a real sense of communal support for his accompanying family, who are having to come to terms with these traumatic circumstances."

The Foreign Office said it was aware that a British teenager had been taken to hospital and it was providing consular assistance.
