Some 600 people were evacuated from a high-speed train in Taiwan Friday after explosives were found in a bathroom, officials said.

The explosives were discovered in two pieces of luggage emitting white smoke, CNN reported.

People near the bathroom reported smelling gas. Police said the luggage contained about 1.5 gallons of gasoline and a timer to trigger it.

The train was traveling from Zuoying to Taipei. It stopped in Hsinchu City after the devices were found about 9 a.m. local time.
