Baseball bat sales skyrocket in UK as riots reach fourth day
Baseball bats are suddenly a hot commodity in London.

As the fierce London riots head into their fourth day, it seems locals are stocking up - on baseball bats.

Sales of the Rucanor Aluminum Baseball Bat shot up 5,149% on the United Kingdom's Amazon.com website.

The bats, which cost about $27, are the 125th most popular item in the sports and leisure section of the website.

Out of the top 10 movers and shakers in that section, seven were baseball bats.

Sales for Bronx 32\" Wooden Baseball bats rose 3,664% to rank 186th on the sports and leisure website and Midwest Adult Slugger Wood Bats rose 3,505% to be the 158th most popular item.

Military police telescope sales also went up 5,010%.

Amazon.com did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As of Tuesday moing, 525 people had been arrested in the riots that have spread throughout London and into Birmingham, Liverpool, Bristol and Leeds.

The riots, which began after police shot and killed a young man they said they were trying to arrest, have sparked fire-setting, looting and gang-like attacks on cops and  random civilians.
