Baby formula flies off shelves, shows up at twice the price on Chinese website
One mom posted a photo of a shopper buying two carts full of Bellamy’s formula at a Woolworth’s; she complained the store was not enforcing its own policy of an eight-can limit per transaction.

Demand for a popular organic baby formula in China is fueling a shortage in Australia, consumers claim.

Bellamy"s Organic Step 1 Infant Formula sells for nearly $24 in Australia is showing up on Taobao, a Chinese website similar to eBay, for double the price.

Brisk sales in China were bolstered in the past couple weeks, in part, because of a huge online shopping event tied to a Nov. 11 holiday in China.

Australian mothers have been complaining that stores have prioritized Chinese consumers over them.

Bellamy"s is considered "white gold” in China, not just because it is popular in Australia but because it"s considered safe; more than 15,000 Chinese infants were hospitalized and six died after drinking tainted formula.
