A drink driver who downed between 80 and 90 full strength cans of bitter before getting behind the wheel has been banned for six months.

Trevor Alexander Warren, 51, from Dundee Beach in Australia told the court that he also hadn"t eaten during his binge on Melboue Bitter.

However, he was pulled over by police at 6.14am the next moing at a random breath-testing station where they smelt the waft of alcohol seeping from the car.

Warren told the police that he had stopped drinking at 6pm the previous day, but was still found to be more than double the drink-drive limit.

The breathalyser recorded a measurement of 0.108 after an epic drinking session which saw him knock back 33 litres of beer.

He had his licence suspended for six months and was fined $450 (£270) after the incident last Monday.

‘If people have a big night on the drink they really have to consider the following moing. If there is any risk at all you might be over, don"t drive," sergeant Peter Foran told the Weste Advocate.

The officer waed motorists coming into the festive season not to take risks after an evening of heavy drinking.
