TEMPERAMENTAL rapper Kanye West stormed off stage at a Florida concert, after ripping into his sound and lighting crew.

West, who was performing in Tampa as part of his critically-acclaimed Yeezus tour, stopped the show just three songs into the concert, the Tampa Tribune reports.

West's elaborate show includes a massive 60-foot (18 metre) LED screen, a fake mountain complete with smoke and lasers, dancers, an actor playing Jesus, and a yeti-like creature with glowing red eyes.

However, the perfectionist rapper was not impressed and let it show - ripping into his crew by saying lasers shooting off the mountain "sucked", complaining that the giant screen should be in black and white not colour, and yelling at a woman who forgot to cue up the "deep voice" sound effect on his microphone.

An irate West demanded the music be stopped, then stormed offstage to confront his crew, demanding the lights be tued off "now".

However, the rapper retued to the stage after a minute, thrilling the crowd with songs from his recent Yeezus CD as well as peppering the show with many of his past hits, the Tampa Tribune reports.

The rapper, who performs most of the show wearing a series of elaborate masks, also took time out to deliver a trademark rant against "nice, good, safe celebrities" who keep quiet out of fear, as well as comparing his haters to people who hated Steve Jobs and Nelson Mandela.

West’s finance Kim Kardashian and baby daughter North have been by his side during the entire tour, with Kardashian posting a bathroom selfie of the pair before West took the stage just days ago.
