American freelance cameraman Ashoka Mukpo in Africa diagnosed with Ebola
An American freelance cameraman working for NBC News in Liberia has tested positive for Ebola and will be flown back to the United States for treatment, NBC News reports.
Ashoka Mukpo, 33, was helping to cover the outbreak in Liberia for NBC News when he was diagnosed.
The freelancer came down with symptoms on Wednesday and discovered he was running a fever.
On Thursday moing, Mukph went to a Medecins Sans Frontieres treatment center to be tested for the virus. The positive result came back approximately 12 hours later.
The freelancer is the fourth American to have contracted Ebola in Liberia. NBC News reports that he has been working in Liberia on various projects for the past three years.
The freelancer"s name is being withheld at the request of his family.
