Amanda Bynes' Psychiatric Hold Extended for 30 Days: Report

Amanda Bynes will reportedly not be appearing in court on Friday, Aug. 9. According to TMZ, the 27-year-old actress' psychiatric hold has been extended for 30 days under doctors' orders.

Bynes was ordered to appear in court on Aug. 9 in order for a judge to determine whether or not to grant the star's parents' conservatorshiprequest. But TMZ reports that a judge, after traveling to the hospital, granted doctors' request to extend Bynes' psychiatric hold for an additional 30 days, which requires the patient to be "gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder."

The former Nickelodeon star was initially placed on an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold on July 22, after allegedly starting a fire in a stranger's driveway in her hometown of Thousand Oaks, Calif. A judge then granted a request to extend Bynes' mental health evaluation by two weeks.

On July 25, Bynes' parents, Rick and Lynn, filed to impose a conservatorship on their daughter. At the time, the Ventura County judge presiding over the case said he needed face-to-face time with Bynes to render his decision.
