ACTOR Christopher Walken hitched a ride with two fans in New York after he was unable to find a cab.

The Highlander star was relaxed when the two strangers spotted the actor trying to hail a cab on the Upper West Side and offered him a ride.

The fans, Sergio P and Ash K, both 38, told Gothamist that he accepted the lift but insisted they not go out of their way to drop him off downtown.

"He ... wasn't weirded out [by the situation], but did look at us both and into the car. We were really nice and told him we were fans and would be honoured to give him a lift. [He was] totally cool with it," they said.

Sergio said the trio talked about New York neighborhoods and that Walken gave Ash advice on acting.

"We had time to talk because there was traffic but it was moving. When we stopped at his destination he didn't immediately get out. Finished the conversation and got out a few minutes after," Sergio said.
