Accused gas thief dives into manure pile to avoid police
A man suspected of stealing fuel in England tried a novel, smelly and ultimately unsuccessful way of avoiding thermal-imaging equipment onboard a police helicopter: He hid, face down, in a pile of manure. Because he was on the run before his dung-dive, the suspect's body temperature was high enough to be detected, and he was found. Amazingly, the suspected offense that inspired the game of hide-and-go-reek wasn't enough to warrant a charge. Despite a van allegedly equipped with a 1,000-liter tank and pumping equipment, the man was released with just a waing.
