A spam video enticing people to click on a picture of a bikini-clad woman has gone viral on Facebook after thousands took the bait.

The link, which appears with the text 'Look what this girl is wearing at the beach in front of thousands of people!' has quickly spread around the social networking site as more and more people fell for the spam.

The fake video's description reads ‘During the summer holidays, this girl took the opportunity to do something unheard of! I bet no one can do the same,' and this, along with the picture of a woman in a bright pink bikini, has encouraged thousands of Facebook users to click on it out of curiosity.

But once they've clicked on the link, they're taken to what appears to be a video embedded on a Facebook page, both of which are fake. And as soon as a user has clicked on the link, it is shared on their Facebook profile too, thereby appearing in the newsfeeds of their friends and spreading even further.

The purpose of the fake video is thought to be to drive traffic to certain websites.

Users who've become wise to the scam are now sending out messages to their friends asking them not to share, like or click on the link.
