‘Coupon bandit’ allegedly stole $2.7K worth of newspapers
A weste Pennsylvania woman was really raking in the savings with her coupon collection, but police say she took things a bit far. The police caught 58-year-old Linda Altman nabbing bundles of newspapers at a storage shed where a delivery truck for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette dropped papers for a local carrier; Altman has been charged with theft and burglary.
Police said the "coupon bandit" is accused of stealing $2,700 worth of newspapers over the past 17 months. According to the Associated Press, Police Chief John Fontaine said Altman told them "she was after the coupons. I've heard of extreme couponing, but not like this."
